@Legend64 Log in to the router, go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings, and make the changes below, at the end of step 7 do the same thing on the 5G page and switch to WPA2-PSK AES there.:

@BigSteve If your wired connections are also affected, I would definitely start at the modem, especially how you seen this with the nighthawk. Look at the system logs of the modem, not the TP-Link...

@65Stang There are safety features on the device such as overcurrent protection. Does the Kasa app mention anything? If you turn any of the plugs on or off does it make the same kind of sound?
