I have some products that can only connect to 2.4GHz networks. I have a dual band router. How do I make sure they are connecting to the proper 2.4 GHz network and not the 5GHz network?

Well, in this case, with a 2.4Ghz device, it can't connect to the 5Ghz band. By the way, the 2 bands are one network, not 2.
If you are using Smart Connect, you'll see only ONE SSID to connect to. "Smart" Connect will determine by 'probing' the device what it the best band for it. Only N, AC, or AX devices can connect to the 5Ghz band, but with Smart Connect, there is a possibility that they would also connect to the 2.4Ghz band.
Want to be 100% sure? Then turn off Smart Connect and use 2 different SSID names (suggest using the 'name' followed by 2 for the 2.4Ghz band and 5 for the 5Ghz band). Then MANUALLY connect each device to the specific band you will to use for that device.
