If you are connected to the router network, connect to the extender, then see if Tether will log in.
Make sure the extender is not connected to the guest network, neither the smartphone as well.
Try unplugging the extender, and plugging it back into the wall.
Log into the main router to verify that the extender has the same IP scheme as your main network.
