As I understand, a Mesh system should work seamlessly and a Non-mesh extender will not.

Does your ISP allow you to replace the gateway with your own modem? My ISP (Comcast/Xfinity) does with select brands and models which in the long run is cheaper than renting from the ISP.

I understand as I feel the same way when I have to contact Comcast/Xfinity. Both the TV and internet goes down. "Please power cycle your modem.....".
