Real-world speeds differ, but to have the best possible speed available you would have an Ethernet backhaul set up so the main Deco wired to the modem, then the Deco wired to the other nodes or have the main Deco wired to a switch and the satellite nodes wired to the switch or daisy-chained main Deco > Deco 1 > Deco 2.

@Tony  so I got the new upgraded wireless speed of 500 Mbps download.  When I run the speed on my app for the Deco M5, I do get 500 Mbps.  However, when I Google speed on my computer which is connected to the Deco M5 I only get around 300 Mbps.  This is the same speed as when I had the 300 Mbps.  So how come i can't get the 500 Mbps on my computer?

I'm not sure how you connected your computer, but if you wired your computer to the Deco, steal the Ethernet cable that goes to the main Deco, and test that speed to see if it is faster than 300 Mbps. 

Another thing to check is your QoS speeds. It may be set to 300 Mbps for the Deco system. In the Deco app, go to More > QoS, and look at the download and upload speed. Set that to 1000 Mbps for each entry. Then test the speeds again.

@Tony  thanks for the input.  I will try the QoS and see if that does the trick.  

I also bought an Ethernet cable to connect the main Deco M5 to the one I have in the hallway.  Not practical to have an Ethernet line running along the hallway but good for a test.  In any case, if I wanted to make sure the backhaul is wired, will this increase speed?  Also how exactly do I do it so that backhaul is automatically wired?

@Tony so I used the Ethernet line directly to my computer and got teh full 500 Mbps download which I am supposed to get; however, when I use the Deco M5 wireless you only get half that.

I updated teh QoS also to 1000 and it did help a little but not too much.  Why is Deco M5 not able to get the full 500 Mbps?  When I look at the documentation it should be good to above 870 Mbps.

If you are testing the wireless speeds on the main Deco with other satellite nodes powered off swap the main node with another. Wireless speeds will not be as fast as a wired connection, but shouldn't be slow. Also, if you have been only testing on the same computer using a smartphone, the device being used via Wi-Fi may be the culprit.

If you are connecting through a satellite node then from that it going to the main node that can cause a drop in speed as it needs to hop.

To get the fastest speeds possible from the Deco system you would wire the nodes together for an Ethernet backhaul rather than them talking to each other wirelessly. We have Deco system that has a dedicated wireless backhaul like the M9 which tries to substitute needing to use an Ethernet cable.

So, I just got the giga blast internet and my internet speed is still only 100 Gbs.  All the satellites are connected wirelessly since it is not possible to connect via ethernet.  Shouldn't the speed be higher?  I know not at giga speeds but at least more than 100 GBs?
