Slow network performance on AX50/AX3000

Hello, I just purchased a AX50/AX3000 router and am having a terrible time gettingt the LAN speeds to be good. My other router was a Netgear and I was able to confirm that my WAN/Internet speeds are 500/250 from my ISP. I am getting close to that on wireless when I am right near the router. However, with the AX50 I am only getting 60mbps down and 40mbps up. I've tried everything including mimicking my settings from the Netgear router. Could this be an issue with my devices (iPhone and Macbook Pro) not supporting AX?

I ended up getting it running semi-decently after literally two days of fussing with it,, although the speeds could still really be up and down. It seems to get great reviews everywhere, so my experience maybe is not the norm. One thing I can say without a doubt though is that it runs EXTREMELY hot. I measured the case at 136F after running for maybe 10-15 minutes and under almost no load. I moved it on my desk and the spot where it had been sitting was almost too hot to touch. That was the last straw and I ended up swapping it out for an ASUS AX58U, which seems a little slower at long distances, but overall has been a way better experience.

I managed to fix this issue! The router runs HOT, if you pick it up the underside is extremely hot. This router has a massive design flaw of having the tiniest vents, non-existant feet, and the plastic material that essentially acts as insulation. Simply elevating one side will help airflow immensely. I'm purchasing an active cooling fan to lower the temps even further. good luck everyone!

@Sevi i having the ethernet speed issue, my ISP was 500Mbps, but using lan port only can get 300Mbps. I also set the bandwidth at QOS with download speed and upload speed with 1000Mbps is more than enough but still the same getting 300Mbps only, for upload ok no problem. any solution to me ?

@Sevi @Carl Just wanted to let anyone experiencing a similar issue what my findings were. I was having similar issues of having my download and upload speeds capped at around 280mbps even though I pay for fiber 1gbps. I swapped out my AX50 for the ISPs router and my speeds went up magically to the 900's down and 350's+ up. At this point I got real curious as to why this may be happening because I truly do enjoy using the TP-link user interface (well, enjoy it much more than then one from my IP at least).
After stumbling on this forum, I took the advice of many before me and reset the router, but just the router using my tether app (I didn't do a full factory, just the option that let me wipe the settings without wiping the TPlink credentials.
This seems to have fixed my speed issues, at least for now. I am regularly getting speeds in the 900's now for down and 350s for up. I will continue to monitor and see if this works out ok without having to change anything else or deleting the tether app. Just wanted to let you all know that the issue seems to be around the QOS part. Once I reset everything and didn't mess with those settings, I seem to be back up to where I'm supposed to be at.
If anything changes, I will let you all know.
Hopefully this QOS issue can get resolved because I simply don't have the money to go and purchase another router right now. It is somewhat upsetting that many other people seem to have been reporting the same issue but a whole year later we don't have a solution from TP-link.

Hello, I just bought the router and have exactly the same issue, i cannot perform above 50/60 Mbps both wireless and cable, the old router goes fine to 250, the connection is up to 1GB which is the reason I bought this one.
I do not have the app installed, I use the web browser to install and configure, adding nothing else than provider connection parameters.
I read that i should remove the ax but i cannot find any way to do that.
Very disappointed that such pervasive issue is not solve, there is no point in paying more for getting a fraction of what i get with a 12 years old router.
Pls how can i solve this?

Log into the router's interface and:
Also If you are using QOS and have a ISP speed above 300 Mbps we would recommend turning off QOS and rebooting the rotuer and tesing again.

Hey there, if you're having issues with the QoS, it might be best to return your router to factory defaults and make sure to not turn on that service at all. That seems to be the common theme/solution on this thread that has fixed the issues for most people, myself included.

I do not find the option to deactivate it, it's only a priority setup, not on/off...
