@Myapps i threw the vr2800 in the trash where it belongs and bought an asus instead which is better i already was using external manual dns. the problem is multicast groups, not unicast dns lookups...

i have given up. tp-link's support is that horrible combination of being arrogant AND stupid. one or the other i could cope with - but not both i am migrating to google's nest for my IoT / smart home...
