I have my id and pw for the KASA app but during the config of a new bulb, the password went away that was there for the first device to configure successfully. I'm stumped on this one.

If the password you referred to is the cloud password before you configure the device, you can find the password according to this FAQ.

If it is the wireless password when you configure the device, you should go to the router's management page or router support to find it.
