Email and app notifications are managed by the app while FTP is handled by the local admin page. The technical reason for this is perhaps that email and app alerts use the cloud infrastructure (SMTP server etc). Go to the app, select My Cam and make sure you view the cloud stream (the one with the blue online label). At the bottom of the image frame there are two icons. The left one (with the intruder figure) is what you are looking for.
