Trial Ended

Hi ,
I bought my camera in April 2020, on the understanding that I received 2 years premium cloud subscription for free, included with my purchase (as advertised on your website).
i have not paid anything for a subscription yet I recieved an email yesterday claiming that I have cancelled my subscription- which I haven't done, saying that it will end July 4th.
Please could someone rectify this so that o may continue my subscription as advertised until April 2022.
If this isn't possible, I will return the camera for a refund.
many thanks
Tom

Hello, apologies for any misunderstanding and frustration caused by the Kasa Care subscription service.
All the customers from the United Kingdom who owned a KC200 will still enjoy the 2-day video history for 2 years, which will be counted from the time upon the completion of the camera’s first setup.
Upon this point, you will still have the 2-day video history until April 2022 and you will need to subscribe to one of the paid plans to continue using the cloud storage.
We will soon update our resources on the local website.

I'm afraid you are not alone in this and there are numerous threads along the same lines out there. What has happended is a mass emailing this week.
Please see my thread as well:
https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/211046
You'll see a screenshot of the Kasa T&Cs at the time I bought my cameras and also a link to their current ones. Nothing has changed.
The only thing I would say is that you were promised 2 years of up to 2 days worth of footage depending on camera model, not their premium service for 2 years. You only got that whilst it was in Beta which would appear to be ending for everyone on 4th July. You therefore would need to take the Premium Beta period off the 2 years.
However at worst I would expect everyone to get 2 years worth of something useful e.g some stored footage. No matter how small as I outlined for the different camera models in my thread which was what was in the packaging when I bought the cameras.
I'd suggest that this will be a small PR nightmare and hopefully someone has made a bit of a snafu. I would however imagine that they will simply state that their T&Cs are subject to change without notice and that they are changing their free tier from the advertised 'up to 2 days' to none, live stream only.
Given the mail only came out over the weekend, the fallout is yet to hit TP-Link so will be interesting to see how it is dealt with.
I for one won't be recommending these cameras to anyone else until I find out whats going on. Given I am an Apple home I'll be looking at a Homekit Secure Video compatible offering (Logitech Circle 2 seems the leader at the moment) where I can use my iCloud storage at no cost and know the footage is secure and encrypted. I don't imagine I'll be paying TP-Link any more money to host my home security footage.
Best of luck with your endeavours and keep us posted if you get any contact.
