I think you have busy transmission of network when it hangs.But wr1043nd v1 has stopping-produce,that meaning they will not repair it.I advise you to buy wr1043nd v2, which you deserve ！

TP-LINK router support USB 2.0. But USB 3.0 is compatible with 2.0.As I have a usb 3.0 with formated of NTFS ,I also can use shore sharing by tp-link router.
