Posible lightning damage to TL-WDR3600
Posible lightning damage to TL-WDR3600
Model : TL-WDR3600
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
I have a TL-WDR3600 router that is hooked up to a solid 100 Mbps connection and has been working like a racehorse for a while. I have configured it to run both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi networks simultaneously and everything was working as intended till this morning, when the 2.4GHz network suddenly stopped working. The network was visible to clients but devices were having trouble connecting to it and, when they did, the Internet was dead slow and stopped working after a while. At the same time the 5GHz network was working just fine. I rebooted the router and that seemed to fix the 2.4GHz network.
However, since then there has been a lot of fluctuation in the WiFi speeds and moving the laptop a few feet seems to have a very big impact on speed tests. There have recently been thunderstorms in the region where I live and I suspect that a lightning strike might have knocked out a radio or some other component in the router. Is this possible? If so, what can I do to check the health of the router?
Is there anything else that could be the issue and could someone here please recommend any steps I may take? Many thanks.
