Slow Archer T2U

Model : TL-WDN4800
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP : PlusNet
Hi
I bought an AC600 Archer T2U to use with my desktop.
Speed of the Wireless connection to the router is at 72Mps
Signal strength from the TP utility is at 70% "excellent"
But internet speed is below 2Mb, a tenth of that of my laptop (20-25Mb) in the same room, next to the desktop.
When I used the Adapter with my laptop (instead of that of my laptop) the speed fall to that of the desktop.
Is this adapter faulty?
Thx

Hello, thanks for bringing this up, while this post is really old and the issue you encounter may not be the same the original poster. It is suggested to open your own post next time if you encounter a similar issue, which may show respect to the original poster as he or she may not prefer to be notified with this old issue.
Back to your report, please provide the basic info, and we will try to work it out:
1. Is the model number of your wireless adapter T2U? How about its hardware, V1 or V2?
2. What is the operating system of your computer, a Windows 10 or mac? If it is a Windows 10, try to delete the existing driver and update the driver to be 22.0 which Intel just released a month ago?

If this doesn't help, please check the below further:
1. Is it possible to try this adapter on another computer and confirm if the issue persists?
2. Is there any anti-virus software running on the computer? Can you please try to uninstall it and see if that makes a difference?
3. It is suggested to try to change the wireless channel and channel width on the wireless router, which may help to improve the wireless connectivity and range. BTW, what is the model number of the wireless router that this T2U connects to?
If none of the above helps, please refer to the below article to review all the settings in your network and get back to us with the required info, then we will try to investigate further:

@Roger_jay I had the same exact problem. Brand new TP-Link on my desktop. At command prompt typed "netsh wlan show interfaces" as the signal was 44% at best. This is close to router. Notebook in any location was 99%. I switched the TP-Link to my notebook and it dropped down to the same 44%. I used the latest drivers, which is to say two years old, from this site. I am not a happy camper.
