differences in 8616 verson 6, 7 , 8? are here any performance upgrades ?

My v3 8616 seems to have died after 6 years.
I always had issues with my upload.
The modem was always stuck at 10Mbit half duplex to all the routers it was connecting to throughout the years. and yes i switched many cat5e/cat6 cables - My internet speed is 15/1 but i was always stuck at 10m/512k
I even tried changing the cable. I have a feeling the modem was only 10Mbit since it only has 4 pins in the WAN port.
What are the differences in the hardware Versions going up from 4, 5, 6, 7 and now 8? besides the lightening protection (apparently)
Would I see a nice performance increase?
