Ethernet Backhaul is not active
There are several typical network topologies:
Case 1
Main Deco---network switches---other satellite Deco
Or Main Deco---powerline 1~~~~powerline 2---satellite Deco
Troubleshooting Suggestions:
1. Remove the switch/powerline and connect the satellite Deco to the main Deco directly. If the Ethernet Backhaul is active immediately, please check whether your network switch/powerline supports IEEE 1905.1 protocol or not.
Refer to Q4/Q5 in the below FAQ for more detailed explanation:
General questions about Ethernet Backhaul feature on your Deco
2. If the switch/powerline is confirmed IEEE 1905.1 protocol supported, please leave the model number of the switch here.
3. If you are using the TP-Link switches, login to the web UI of the switch, go to Monitoring > Loop Prevention to Disable the Loop Prevention:
Case 2
Main Deco---Ethernet---satellite Deco 1---Ethernet---satellite Deco 2
Troubleshooting Suggestions:
1. Change the Ethernet cable between the Deco nodes.
2. Swap the location of the satellite Deco nodes to confirm that the issue is not caused by a specific Deco.
If the issue persists, comment below with the following information:
--What kind of Ethernet cable do you use, like UTP Cat5e?
--How long is the cable?
Case 3:
ISP main router (with 4 LAN ports) ---all Deco units wired to the main router (Deco in AP mode)
Troubleshooting Suggestions:
1. Change the Ethernet cables from the main router to the Deco nodes.
2 . Connect one of the satellite Deco to the main Deco directly to check whether the Ethernet Backhaul will be established, such as ISP main router—main Deco—satellite 1.
---If the Ethernet Backhaul is active this time, please comment below with the model number of your main router.
PLC Backhaul is not active
The PLC Backhaul only takes effect when the whole house is under the same electric circuit and the main Deco needs to support Powerline Backhaul.
How to check whether the PLC Backhaul is active or not? Check the Signal Source on the Deco app as follows:
Troubleshooting Suggestions:
1. Make sure the main Deco is Deco P9 or Deco P7.
2. Use the original power adapter.
3. Plug the satellite Deco in the same room as the main Deco and make sure it is plugged into the wall outlet directly.
Comment below if PLC backhaul still fails after the above suggestions.
