May I ask what the differences between hardware versions are please?

They may have different hardware(chipset) and different firmware version.

For example - in RE450 v4 OneMesh feature has been implemented unlike the previous HW versions of that model.

In general every new HW or FW version should improve device functionality, fix the operational/security issues as well as implement new features.
