Hello,

 

I've been experiencing periodic disconnects in my Deco M3 network, which results in ping spikes in online games. I hope someone can help me, because I'm at a loss

 

Effect is also measured on the main unit using a wired connection. These tests are run on one of the end units (custom_3, custom_5) after a clean reboot using the web interface.

 

tracert google.com

 

Pinging router and first hops show Request timeout starting from the first hop

 

And results in ping spikes when pinging google.com

Logs show periodic

daemon.err miniupnpd[13367]: sendto(udp_notify=12, [::da07:b6ff:fe86:dbe0]): Network is unreachable

One thing I notice is that CPU usage jumps to 100% seemingly in line with the disconnects (although it's hard to judge with the refresh time of the web interfface)

Hi, 

Are Deco units connected via Ethernet cable or by Wi-Fi?

Did they work on the wireless router mode or access point mode?

How many devices are connected to the whole Deco system?

By the way, Could you please provide me the MAC address of the main Deco as well as your TP-Link ID in a private message?

Hi, thanks for your reply

 

The main unit is connected to the router of my ISP (which is in bridge mode). From there all units are connected wireless. The network is running in router mode.

Hi, So your model number is Deco M4, right?

Have you tried to set up the ISP router as the main router and put all 5*M4 as the access point?

In this way, the main Deco's CPU load would be lower and the ping spike would be improved as well;

Moreover, if the device is connected wirelessly to the Deco, it is also recommended to turn off the Mesh technology on the Deco App for it;

Ah my bad. I misremembered it as a deco M3. Yes the model is Deco M4.

 

Our previous setup used a TP-Link Archer C1200 as the Router with the Deco's in AP mode. However, we had terrible ping spikes and connection issues in this setup as well. If it's useful, I can switch back to that setup and run more tests.

To use the ISP unit as a router would require contacting my ISP

 

The ping tests above use a wired connection to the deco unit. But as noted, this issue is also present when connected wired to the main unit
