Model: Archer A10
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Got a brand new ax10 router. Connected it to our BT  Master socket 5c with the cable supplied. No modem on my existing set up with plusnet.

Internet on light flashes orange on switch on and never comes on again. Other lights come on. No internet.

Have tried other cables have replaced the bt mastersocket 5c except for the back plate which belongs to bt.

Tried the router at another house - talk talk setup without a modem also so plugged into a master socket 5c again. Still no light on.

Have returned the ax10 router. Got another ax10 router still the same result. Very frustrated.

Does this thing work without a modem? Instructions say yes but many many hours later no internet.

Plusnet router is working on the same infrastructure but it uses an RJ11 instead of RJ45 in the same socket.

What is going on?

@MarkMallard

If you use a xDSL service from your ISP then you need a modem connected before your AX10. AX10 is a wireless router, not a xDSL modem/router.

If your modem allows to be set in bridge mode then that's the best scenario to connect your AX10. If not then AP mode would be the other option, thus extending the wireless coverage in your home.

In both cases you'll avoid double NAT in your network.
