Hi, I have been having lots of disconnection / failure to forward packets problems with my RE220 since installation. The connection back to my main router is fine but the clients on the 5GHz side of the range extender disconnect and drop packets a lot. I have even tested with only a single machine behind it and a specific SSID for the extended client. I have recently switched it to high speed mode, with the RE on 2.4Ghz and the clients on 5Ghz, which seems a little more stable. On a ping to my default gateway I see a lot of duplicate packets though, which isn't a good sign of a stable network connection. Any ideas? I'm not seeing anything in the log other than DHCP requests / responses.

If I connect directly to the main network (not via the extender), I do not see any duplicates. 

 

The MAC sending the frames c0:05:c2:f7:47:e0 isn't listed as one of the adaptor addresses in the UI for the RE220, but it is very similar, so I assume some kind of internal bridge address?

Thank you for your detailed post. 

For RE unstable problem, does it happen on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz band?

May I know how about the LED Status on range extender when Internet does not work?


If Wi-Fi LEDs are still ON on your range extender when the issue happens, you could try to turn on DHCP Server on the range extender, and set up a smaller IP range for it within router's subnet as instruction (  method 1 in the FAQ below)：

If Wi-Fi LEDs goes off, please put RE very close to router and see if RE LEDs goes off or not


If the issue persists, please let me the Model of router your network topology: 

  • Whole Log file of RE when issue occurs: 
  • How did the connection recover such as reboot/ recover automatically: 
  • (if Wi-Fi Led stays On) A photo of your IP & DHCP settings on range extender
