Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 5.0.0 Build 20200918 Rel. 58628

Hi, I am having some issues with the EAP225-Outdoor. While the connection is fast, the connection is unstable and will either slow down significantly or stop working entirely for a few seconds every few minutes. Pinging 192.168.0.1 shows latency spikes every few seconds that go back to normal quickly. When connected directly to the switch, these issues are not there.

This behavior is consistant across multiple devices, and is not fixed by the following:

  • Enabling/Disabling QoS
  • Setting the radio band manually to the least busy band.
  • Disabling 2.4GHz and band steering.
  • Disconnecting the second EAP.
  • Updating all firmware.

A few tests and more device/netowrk information is included in tests.zip

Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks, Ldare373.

It looks like my switch had reset to the factory defaults at some point, creating an IP conflict with the router. After changing the switch's IP settings, everything seems to be working properly.

@Ldare373

What issues are you seeing besides <1% packet loss?  Are you actually having issues with applications or just in your ping tests?

During Google Meets, discord VC, etc..., it will become disconnected for a few seconds every few minutes. This makes it difficult to use these services.

I'm going to try changing some other settings. If those don't fix the problem or narrow it down, will reverting to older firmware and omada controller versions cause any issues?

Dear @Ldare373,

Are your EAPs managed by the Omada Controller V4.2.11? Do both of your EAP have the same issue?

If possible, you may reset one EAP and test it with the default settings in Standalone mode for checking.

Best Regards!

@Ldare373 Update:

The latency spikes weren't the problem. I tried pinging non-LAN addresses, and there was 50% packet loss. So any wired connection works fine, LAN via the EAP is fine, but WAN via the EAP is unusable.
