Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Archer AX73(EU)_V1_200907 rel.76867

Hi,

1. I have problems with weak range of 5 ghz network on Archer Ax73. My old Archer C9, placed on the same place  was doing better. WPA3 security protocol, automatic channel control from router. I have 3 bedroom apartment;

2. Smart connectivity does not work effectively. When moving around home, moving away from the router it automatically switch to 2.4 ghz, after approaching again, it does not switch to 5 ghz. It's about android 10 devices. I`m using WPA3 security protocol, automatic channel control from router;

3. When activating Parent control from Home shield only to observe activity of some devices without any restrictions entered, the devices that are being monitored do not have internet access.

Thanks in advance!

@Stoychev

Thank you for posting on the TP-Link Community.

For the 5G range issue, please try to use the below settings or modifications:

Channel: try to run a Wi-Fi analyzer and verify which 5G channel is clear, then choose that one;

Channel width: 80MHz;

Security: WPA/WPA2-Personal, WPA2-PSK, AES;

Then reboot the AX73, and confirm.

For the smart connectivity, please confirm if all the devices in the network are behaving the same, or only some specific devices cannot switch back to 5G network.

For the HomeShield Parental Control settings, please share with us the basic settings on the Tether app if possible, it seems that you may block the internet access, we will check it for you.

@Kevin_Z

Thanks for your quick reply!

I`ve changed the wireless settings on the router. Switched off Smart connect function and set clear channels and high width 80 MHz as you suggest!

Befor--> 7 meters from ruter through 2 concrete walls -- 2.4 GHz- 65% covarage, 5GHz- 48% covarage; Mettered with Wi-Fi analyzer!

After --> same position of the device -- 2.4 Ghz-80% covarage, 5GHz- 60%;

I think the problem with covarage is solved!smiley

  • All android devices are bahaving the same, once connected to 2.4 GHz, dont switch to 5 GHz.crying Any suggestions?

Home shield options --> I only want to observe activity of 2 desktop computers, with switched off blocked sites option, without filters, without shedules tome for sleep, no time limits,no time without internet! When just adding the desired device in the profile, this one loses internet connection! Any suggestions?

@Stoychev

Firstly, glad to know the modification like switching off the Smart Connecting and changing channels improved the signal coverage.

While as for the Android devices cannot connect back to the 5G network once switched to 2.4G issue, do you mean this still happen after you switched off the Smart Connect feature on the AX73? Can you please confirm again by powering off then on the AX73,  and reconnect to the 5G and 2.4G network manually on the Android devices? BTW, are they all running the latest Android version, what is it? Are there any other devices, like iOS devices, will they behave the same?

As for the HomeShield setting, can you please share with us the setting screenshots via email? I will email you, please check.
