Hi Everyone,

I am trying to get a better grasp of networking. I have been playing around with a TP-Link MR600 using a sim card as my primary source of Internet connection.

I also have a IP-Star satellite connection but it is far to slow and unreliable for playing games online or streaming.

The sim card has surprisingly worked well - but its very expensive...

I was wondering can I plug the MR600 into my satellites' modem? I presume its a modem, my other router plugs into it. I have attached a picture of the unit for reference.

I tried plugging it in, but it didn't do much and I couldn't get an Internet connection without the 4G service.

By extension, does the MR600 have a DSL modem built in? If I had DSL, would the MR600 act as a modem/router or would I plug the MR600 into an ISP supplied modem?

It's confusing because my other router has a port labeled "Internet" whereas my MR600 does not.

Can someone please help me understand this confusing mess!

Much appreciated,

Daniel

@Daniel_Brown

Yes, this MR600 can be configured as a wireless router, and you can then connect it to the DSL modem or satellite modem with an Ethernet cable via the WAN/LAN port.

You may refer to the User Guide to change the working modem to wireless router, then connect it to the satellite modem:

https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202011/20201116/1910012928_Archer%20MR600(EU)_UG_REV2.0.0.pdf  (Page 101)

Please be aware that the MR600 cannot work as an all-in-one DSL modem router, it can only be configured as a 3G/4G router or wireless router.
