Hello, go easy on me - this is my first post! Sorry if this subject is covered elsewhere.

I'm looking for some assistance please. I've recently installed 3 x M5 Deco units in our home which has made the internal WiFi great but the TP link extenders in my outdoor study are unable to pick up a very good signal strength and yesterday they completely gave up.

I'm looking to hardwire the outdoor study, is it as simple as running an outdoor/weather proof ethernet cable from one of the M5 Deco units in the house to the outdoor study straight into the laptop to be able to achieve the same wift outdoors as inside or is it alot more complicated than that?

@Marcus_TP44

Yes, it is as simple as that, if you want to connect laptop only. Although, you should test it before laying cable: bring laptop to Deco unit, connect laptop by short Ethernet cable to free port of Deco M5, see if it works. If it does, obviously long outdoor cable will work, too.

Also, further improvement: if you invest in one more M5 unit and connect it to the other side of the outdoor ethernet cable, instead of laptop, you'll get WiFi coverage for that place. Laptop included, but not exclusively.

TP-Link sells single M5 units.

@Alexandre. you are a star! Thank you for your help and support.

Looks like I've got some items to purchase and lets see if they work.

Have a great evening!
