Model: RE450
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.0.1 20190124

Hi

I have been using my re450 for the past 6 months and it's been working great.

Recently, I decided to try the high speed mode, which was fairly easy to setup through the web interface. However, once I had everything set up (Router - 2.4 - Extender - 5 - Client), I can't access any website or gaming servers. I tried manually setting the network settings according to this thread, but I can't make it work.

I have tried with both automatic IP and static IP, and the DHCP settings match my router's settings.

I can access my router's interface from my desktop through the extender, and I'm able to ping the websites I want to visit, but they won't load into my browser.

Please help me make this work.

Thanks,

Kristian

@Kristian11

Hi, that is an interesting findingcool.

And could you please help me check the following information as well:

1. When RE450 is on the high-speed mode, would the 2.4ghz and 5ghz still lit up on it?

2. Would 5ghz to the router, 2.4ghz to a client make any difference?

By the way, what is the model number of the home router?

Did you set up any MAC filtering on the router for RE450?

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

@TP-Link

1. When I have high-speed mode enabled with Router - 2.4 - Extender - 5 - Client, the 2.4 indicator is lit up. The 5 is not.

2. Router - 5 - Extender - 2.4 - Client seems to make the problem go away. Is the performance the same in both configurations?

Home router is Icotera i4850

Serial number: 4850001920129715

Firmware version: 4850-1.16.3a

I haven't set up any MAC filtering that I know of. Don't see any settings for this on my router.

Thank you for your help so far

@Kristian11

Hi, thank you very much for your detailed information.

As for different way of high speed mode, normally, 5ghz to the router is more recommended since the extender could get more speed from the router;

And are you able to constantly reproduce the same issue no the high speed mode(router—2.4ghz, clients-5ghz)?

If yes, we would like to forward your case to the senior engineers for further assistance.

Thanks a lot and wait for your reply.

Yes. I have tried several times and over several days, and every time it connects without a problem to the router, but I can never load any websites or connect to games (for the Router - 2.4 - Extender - 5 - Client).

Router - 5 - Extender - 2.4 Client continues to work just fine.

Thank you for your reply.
