Disclaimer: the Archer C5 is not on the list so i picked the Archer C50 that i think the only difference is that the 50 has 100mbps ports instead of gibabit on the C5.

 

So i just got this router, I don't intend to use it as the main router connected to a modem, i actually will use it connected to my ISP's router, normal lan port to normal lan port, to use it as a 4 port switch + access point.

 

To achieve this i went to this guide and tried to follow the steps ( https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1199/ ).

 

I connected the power adapter to the C50, turned it on and removed my Lan cable (ISP's to PC) from the computer and connected the yellow included one from the c50 to my computer.

 

After this I waited for the lights to torn on/green and i went to connect to tplinkwifi.net, then 192.168.0.1 and then 192.168.1.1 and all of them failed.

 

Am I doing something wrong?

Follow this guide for AP configuration (case 1) of the C5 router. (the link you followed is pretty much the same actually).

If you already made these settings on C5, then connect C5 LAN (yellow) port to ISP router LAN port and test either via cable or Wi-Fi.

If you can't connect via ethernet cable to C5, try to connect via wireless.

If you had not change Wi-Fi settings on C5 use the default - wireless settings (SSID, wireless password) are on a sticker (on the back panel).

So i cant configure the router if he is not connected to a modem or other router? I saw some videos where they just had the tp link router connected to the computer and power, no modem or other router and they were messing in the settings

Correct, but once you turned off the DHCP server of the C5, it has to be connected to the ISP router, so your laptop would be able to receive an IP address (from the DHCP server of the ISP router).
