Port Forwarding issues and limits in Archer C80
Port Forwarding issues and limits in Archer C80
Hi,
I've bought a new Tp Link Archer C80 for replacing and get an upgrade for my old but faithful Linksys E1000, and when trying to forward some ports i need to redirect, surprise! i have to configure ONE BY ONE, but even worse: there is a limit in the quantity of ports you can redirect. How in middle of 21st Century can this be?? My idea was supposed to change to a better device and i find this disappointing problem with my first time buying a device from the 'Tp-Link' brand.
Can be this solved soon with some software update???

Another bug found in the C80: the remote management feature does not work
When you try to open the web interface through the ip:port, it stays saying "opening" forever...
This is (by now) the public ip & port for remote manage: 186.89.217.40:8888

The C80 is behind a main adsl modem-router
But I tried converting that router in 'only modem' (bridge) and problem persists, it does not load the web interface completely, then i switched back on its router function 'cause i like to manage the adsl modem by web interface (for watching adsl sync speed, remote rebooting,...)
I tried using another port (65000), and the number of port does not make a solution.. Remote management port is correctly forwarded to the C80 ip (if not, we would not see the tplink logo and the word 'loading' in the tab of the browser)...
You can see the adsl router (main) can be correctly accessed by the assigned port (8079)
The Archer C80 is a bag of bugs and malfunctions. I think i threw my money.
Hope an update can solve all these problems soon

Hello, sorry for all troubles.
May I confirm what is the region version of your C80? Is it a US version or an EU one?
As for the time synchronizing issue, have you tried to change the WAN DNS server on the C80 as I suggested before? Kindly show us the WAN status page including the WAN IP address and DNS server info. BTW, for security concern, you's better to send this info to our email personally, please check your email box and reply, thanks.

@Kevin_Z Not all apps are compatible with UPNP, for example, the main problem is that i need to use a FTP Server, which needs a high port range to forward for working in passive mode...
This is ONLY ONE of the problems i've found in the Archer C80, other problems found in these 3 weeks using this new router are:
-Device loses time & date when is disconnecting from power or when is a power failure
-Device is unable to obtain date and hour from internet from any NTP server (tested ntp.org ; time.windows.com ; time.google.com ) ALL give timeout error
What a mess my first experience with TP-LINK, Really i want my money back...

Hi, are you running the latest firmware on the Archer C80 already? If not, please update the router firmware first, then check again if you can set a port range on the web GUI for a local server:

@GeorKhawam In my case the ntp option to obtain the time and hour from a ntp server from internet NEVER worked... Practically it's a "fake" feature in my Archer C80
