Hi,

I wonder whether anyone has any idea what is the difference between LS105G vs TL-SG105 switches?

Apart from obvious but irrelevant in size and power consumption (and probably more recent design of the LS105G one) I can see only one difference - the TL-SG105 has listed IGMP Snooping function.

Is that the difference? What impact would that have on a simple home interent network?

Thanks

Pawel

@Pawel_M

Good day,

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Yes, IGMP snooping might be the biggest different between LS105G and TL-SG105.

PS:LS105G does not have a grounding terminal.

For the IGMP snooping, it is more related to the IPTV programs.

IPTV programs are transmitted in multicast traffic. When a switch receives the multicast traffic, it will flood the traffic to all the ports, even if the devices connected to some particular ports do not need the IPTV service, so the network could be very slow. To solve this problem,  IGMP Snooping is much recommended . With IGMP Snooping, the switch will forward IPTV stream only to the ports that request the IPTV service rather than to all ports.

Thanks a lot.
