[Solution] Weak secuirty issue on the IOS system

Background:
Some of you may have updated your Apple devices to the latest iOS 14 version and get a “Weak Security” warning message when connecting to the Deco network.
Why Deco network is displayed as “Weak Security”?
Deco by default secured your wireless network with a mixed WPA/WPA2-AES/TKIP security, and the previous firmware was not allowed to manually configure the security mode. While iOS14 and some new operating systems consider other than the latest WPA3 and WPA2 AES to have security issues.
Solution:
1.The latest firmware version has allowed users to manually configure the security mode; Please make sure that you have updated Deco to the latest firmware;
2.Please ensure you are running the latest Deco app on your phone;
Then Launch your Deco app->MORE->Wi-Fi, tap the password box and you will be able to change the Security Type:
Note:
1.Sometimes Deco APP might fail to get the latest firmware upgrade notification, please also check on the local official website to ensure you have the latest firmware;
2. After changing the security mode to WPA2-PSK (AES) only, If some of your old IoT devices cannot connect to the Deco network anymore, you could change the security back to the mixed WPA2-PSK (AES)+WPA-PSK (TKIP) as your devices might not support the newer AES version.

@TP-Link_Deco Thanks for your reply. SO does that mean that there have been no Trend Micro database updates for 5 weeks?! This seems a very long time for an AV database to have no new vulnerability updates?! I would imagine that a database update would be daily or weekly at best?
Thanks

Hi, thanks for asking. As for the Deco X60, you need to install the beta firmware in my post, then you will be able to change the security type. The official release is on the way, you may wait for the official firmware if you don't want to install the beta.

Hi, I am asking again: is the firmware I now have on X60 ver. 1, that is 1.2.5 Build 20200709 Rel. 46606, different or the same as the beta one, that is 1.2.5-P1 20200922 Rel. 54037?
I am asking this because when I try to update 1.2.5 46606 to 1.2.5 54037, I get the message update failed and it doesn't work.
Thank you.

@TP-Link_Deco The MacOS update tool worked flawlessly. I have the Deco M9 Plus_V2 hardware, but the App still shows 1.2.x version of firmwire and no option to upgrade the firmwire through the App. I followed this instruction and downloaded the upgrade tool and the newest firmwire. It updated all my 3 Deco units in about 5 min. No more warning on my iPhone saying weak security. Great job!
Deco M9 Plus_V2: new official firmware 1.4.3 Build 20200921 Rel. 42500 is now available, update it via the Deco app or web interface directly. If someone is still under the older 1.2.x version, he will need to manually download the latest firmware from here, then update it via the Upgrade Tool.

I have the M9 plus V2. I installed the earlier Beta but was having trouble trying to install the final version. I had downloaded the bin file but couldn't figure a way to load it. Finally on my pc I logged into the master router using its address through my web browser and was able to use the upgrade function to run the bin file. THEN I went back to the iPhone app, selected upgrade and the option to update to the new firmware came up and I was able to update all three routers.
BTW I couldn't use the update tool because for some reason when I tried to log in it kept claiming my password was invalid (it wasn't).

Hi @golar3, may I know how did you upgrade the firmware for the X60? You may try to access each RE unit first via its IP address and update, then upgrade the main unit, after that, reboot all of them to confirm.

Hi @Mazmart, can I have a screenshot of the Deco app about the SSID and password page? What if you click on the SSID or password box, will you see the security type option?
