Model: Adapter
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Windows 10 PC won't recognise my TL-WDN4800 PCI Express adapter, Says I need to connect the apdapter in order to continue. It's in the PCIe 1 slot. I've a NVMe M.2 SSD, Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 motherboard.
I've downloaded the up to date driver on the TP link website but thats where the message saying connect the adapter appears.

The adapter is not showing up in the device manager menu and also in the BIOS settings I've the Onboard Devices Configuration -> PCI Express Slot and M.2 Bandwidth setting set to M.2 mode would this setting have any impact on the PCI Express slot also?

@MurphyD72

Good day.

Thank you for your patience.

Since M2.mode is also compatible with PCI/PCI-E, so it should be ok with the adapter and just in case, you could get back SATA mode to see if that made any difference;

Do you have one more PCI-E slot that we can have a test?

If possible, you could also test on a second computer.

 By the way, how long have you had the adapter and did it work fine on this computer?

Thank you very much for your understanding and support.

@Kathy_Z
Thanks for replying

I've tried the other PCIe slot but that didn't work, it previously but I can't remember what change or configuration caused it to stop working. Unfortunatly I don't have another PC I could try it on. I've had the adapter for roughly 3-4 years I think but I can't say for definte.

@MurphyD72

Good day.

Thank you for your reply.

In this way, please also try to turn off the firewall and put the windows into safe mode https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/791/, then unplug the adapter and plug it again to run a final check?

May I know where are you located?

If possible, you could check the invoice and contact the shop retailer to see if it is still under warranty.

Thank you very much!
