@Abhi093 @AkashDev

My LPDA antennas were delivered a few days ago. But I was out of station, so did not set them up yet. I'm trying to setup the antennas now. I'm looking for your expert advise on how to mount and measure the improvements. Hope you can give some guidance.

I'm located in a rural area and the nearest airtel tower is located <1Km with a clear line of sight from the terrace. Both jio and Airtel towers are located in the same area. On net monster and other apps, I've observed that Airtel signals come from 3 different towers. Two other towers are located in different directions, and they are 5-6 kms away. I've not observed 4g+ when connected to the nearest tower. Nearest tower is almost always connected on band-3(1800) and the average speeds from the terrace are 30 Mbps DL and 25 Mbps UL. This is my current setup.

I've setup the 12dbi LPDA antennas today. After connecting them to the router I've observed improvement in rsrp, but rsrq and SNR have gone down. I've gotten 10 mtr lmr400 cables ( thought I don't need 10 mtrs really) to connect the antennas to router.  My suspicion is the mounting of antennas is incorrect.  I haven't gotten the 90 degree perfectly, I'm going to retry this tomorrow.

My queries are about the antenna setup. Which portion of the antenna should face the tower? In my current setup, xyz area is facing the tower. Is this the right way to arrange the antenna.

Another question is, shall I mount the antennas on the same pole or two different poles? If I've to mount them on different poles, what should be the right way to setup each antenna?

Your guidance is highly appreciated. Thank you.

I've attached the signal strength values in the current setup.

You can use this site to figure out what towers have what connections/ISPs devices installed on them. Might be helpful, https://tarangsanchar.gov.in/EMFPortal/SiteFinder/Verify

It does not. Even though the beta was released in April and the latest stable was released few months later, For some reason stable firmware doesn't have that option.

@AP_Techie Your RSRQ is excellent @ -8dB. Any thing >=10db is good. Please select band 40 and see if you are getting any signals. Chances are low though - reason being you are fairly far from transmission tower. Try. If you get band 40 signals, then, connect to band 3 first, then connect to band 40. You will get carrier aggregation.

@Rajiv.R  Thank You for the eye opener. I understood that the current architecture has limitations with the further band support. So there wrre no replies from TP-Link and they silently release V2. @ishanjain28 I strongly believe it's 2CA_40A+40A. V2 Hardware what they say has also 2CA_1A+3A added.  I don't understand why a datasheet is so confusing for a such a big company. Huawei has clear datasheet for each model of their 4G-LTE/5G-NR routers.

@Sunshine @Kevin_Z Is our purchase a waste for people in India  having V1 of the MR600 for such a hefty amount? Are you going to replace the V1s with V2s ?

Hi @ishanjain28

Thanks for your query about 40+40 CA combinations, In general as per my knowledge which I saw on the various portals/websites, the manufacturer of the Device/Phones/LTE Modems are mentioning in a standard format like the above you shown the screenshot as 40+40 which is by default considered as A, In case of C, they are mentioning it like 40C.

I would say, If it is 40C, then C must be mentioned with the band number.

@Sunshine Can you please clarify if I am wrong about the MR600 V2 specification which is mentioned on TP-Link website under the specification in the PDF file as 40+40 and it is 40A+40A not 40C.

Regards, Abhi

@mallipoo thanks for the idea. I've changed the bands to 3 and 40 respectively. But did not get 4G+.

I walked from my place to the tower this morning and found that the distance is only around 350 mtrs. Aerial distance would be even lesser.

Another observation is the antenna's sharp edge has been facing the tower.  The RSRP(62DBI) , RSRQ(-8) numbers are for this mounting.

When I adjust the antennas so that big area(XYZ) faces the tower - RSRP(75DBi), RSRQ(-10) values are worse. So I'm wondering what is the right way to mount the antennas.

@darant  Your sharp area need to point towards the tower. Try to lock the band 40 that gives you better SNR and RSRQ values.

@AP_Techie If your tower is taller than the height of your antenna, tilt it up a little. Exact focus will improve speed. Do not worry about SNR. Be concerned about RSRQ. It plays a vital role in speed.

@mallipoo Tower is much taller than my current setup. Right now, I've setup the antennas on a 2Mtr real pole. I think it makes sense to get a 5-10 Mtr pole to mount the antennas higher.  Thanks for your help & guidance 🙂

@AP_Techie Think of risks during wind/storm - when you increase height. It is expensive  too.

I live on the 10th floor of an apartment. Mounted my LPDA's in balcony area. Tower is shorter than the height of my antenna position. I have tilted it downward pointing to the angle of tower. You may please try. It could help.

For CA, I select band 3 first (leaving band b as none), save it. Once it locks, i select band 40 (band b) and save again. With this, it locks on CA. Please update if this works for you also.
