In the Quick Set-up screen there is only an option for either ADSL or VDSL.  My ISP says this modem is not fibre compatible.  I have seen threads on forums that for fibre connection I am to use the VDSL option??

For your case, please set this device up in EWAN Mode, which is Router Mode. Here are some instructions for your reference. https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/543/ Note, the NBN settings in the above instructions are just for reference, the real configuration parameters for your situation is decided by your network environment and your Internet Service Provider.
