After a failed firmware upgrade the device does not boot anymore.
Is it possible to boot from an usb?

What do you mean it cannot boot up anymore? More details will be better.
Meanwhile, how did you update the firmware? Is there any power outage during firmware upgrading?
It is suggested to reset the C20i with the reset button or hole to give it a go; and please tell me the light status of the router as well.
