Is it possible to have this router respond to WAN ping? I checked the settings and there is nothing obvious there.

Yes, go Advanced > Security > uncheck [ ] Forbid Wan Ping

Thanks for that. Finally got it figured out how to do it.

I have to turn on DoS protection in order to turn off all the protections. That is the most un-intuitive setup I have seen so far.
