thank you Kevin so... followed instructions and re-installed firmware on both my M9s then tried connecting a device, checked it was listed among "Network Devices" (it was) and finally turned it off...

"Offline Devices" was **never** empty in 1.2.6: every device that connected at least once to the network was listed there when not connected already rebooted both Decos at least twice, to no avail...
