Question about TL-R600VPN

I'm a little confused about how to properly set this router up. I'm currently using a CenturyLink provided ADSL modem/router (C1000A), set to provide DHCP. I plugged the TL-R600VPN in and was able to get it configured using DHCP, but no luck using PPPoE with the proper username and password. It just never finishes connecting. Is there some trick, or a setting I need to change on the modem? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Edit: I actually got it working. Had to set the modem to Transparent Bridging. Now, to try and get the VPN working. :P
