Region : UnitedStates

Model : TL-R470T+

Hardware Version : V4

Firmware Version :

ISP : Verizon

Hello, I have a 25/25 FiOS internet connection, which used to be PPPOE, but now Verizon FiOS has changed to a DHCP connection type.

I just bought this router without knowing about this issue, and I don't see any support for this type of connection anywhere in the settings.

Is there any way to get this router to support this DCHP Wan Connection Type, or should I pay the money to send it back for a return?

I cannot believe a company like tp-link would even make a router without supporting this basic connection type. I'm so upset, I probably won't buy tp-link products again unless someone can help.

Do you mean Dynamic IP? With your modem, you can access internet automatically? If so, just select Dynamic IP as WAN connection type.

Thanks for the reply, but no, I don't mean Dynamic IP, I mean a DHCP connection type. I tried Dynamic IP and I cannot get it to connect.

Here is what the router settings look like on a router that does work.

From modem to your PC directly, can you access internet? It is important to verify it bypassing any router...
Your modem is a cable modem, right?
Dynamic IP is the right connection type. But if there is no IP address obtained with new router, you can try MAC Clone etc..

Mavis, you are a god amongst men, thank you!

I didn't try connecting directly to the Verizon modem, but I immediately tried a MAC clone of the old router's WAN, and it established a connection instantly. The connection is very fast, so I am grateful it supports my ISP after all. :D

I remember reading last week that Verizon stopped requiring MAC cloning, so I hadn't tried it. But boy were they were wrong!

Hope you have a great day.
