I bought a range extender and downloaded the app and logged in when I try to connect to the range extender in the WiFi settings it won't accept the password that I thought would be the same as my log in to the app?
What is the model number of your range extender? And what is the current led status?
The default extender's wifi is open, no password needed and there is no internet until you set it up with the main router's wifi password.
If you downloaded the Tether app, the default login username/password will be admin, it is different from the account you used to access the app.
